Polygenic Risk for Major Depression: Diagnostic Specificity and Developmental Trajectories in an Admixed Youth Cohort

I am a biomedical scientist trained at Universidade Federal de São Paulo, where I am now a PhD student in Structural and Functional Biology under the supervision of Marcos Leite Santoro. My work is based in psychiatric genetics and bioinformatics.
Since my undergraduate research, I have worked with the Brazilian High-Risk Cohort for Mental Health Conditions, a longitudinal study following children and adolescents into adulthood. I use its genomic, clinical, cognitive, and neuroimaging data to understand how genetic differences relate to brain development and mental health over time.
I also completed a visiting PhD period with Niamh Mullins at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, studying copy-number variants associated with suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Most of my day-to-day work involves large genomic datasets, R, Unix, and a great deal of collaborative problem-solving.
Currently: PhD student at UNIFESP · São Paulo, Brazil
